The Presbyterian Church of Radford is like a tree with roots in God’s Word and Love. This tree has branches of worship, education, and service which bear the fruit of faith, action, and joyful service. Together we seek to grow in love for God and for one another by walking with each other through the good times and the bad. We share our common humanity with all of the joys and sorrows it brings. The mission of our church is to exhibit our belief in God’s love for us by sharing and extending that love to all of our brothers and sisters. As a part of the body of believers we need to provide an environment that encourages spiritual development, growth, service, and fellowship. We are called to be the body of Christ, to be his hands, his eyes, and his feet through our faith- in-action in our community and beyond. As Christ taught us, we love and serve even the least of his children as if we were loving and serving Christ himself.

History of the Presbyterian Church of Radford

1874	The Presbyterian Church of Radford had its origin in the New River Church, which was established April 26, 1874.
1890	By 1890, growth in the New River Valley allowed the congregation to petition Presbytery to seek out a suitable location for a church building in Radford.
1894	The new church building, called Radford Presbyterian Church, was not ready for occupancy until 1894. Some members, dissatisfied with the delays, built another church on the east side of Radford. That church became Radford Central Church, later to be called Tyler Memorial Church.
1963	An educational wing was added to the Radford Presbyterian Church in 1983.
1968	In 1968 the two churches merged to become The Presbyterian Church of Radford. The new united church celebrated its centennial in 1974.
1970-1988	The Tyler building was used for the United Campus Chapel from 1970-1988, a joint campus ministry of the Presbyterian and Episcopal denominations.
